Ok, I've had this problem for many years, tried minocycline and other stuff with no avail. 2 months ago I started on doxycyclene and the bumps, whiteheads, & occasional cysts started to dissappear. With no bumps I am less likely to visit the mirror. you havve to make a promise that you wont even pick a little. use biore strips or something...get rid of tweesers, toothpicks, anything that picks. In addition to the pills i wash with Klear Action ( a cheaper proactive knockoff) at night and use clindamycin in the morning. keep washing to the minimal...2x per day I am not a 100% better but have had an incredible turn around. I'd say i'm down to one small picking session a week. Life is starting to be normal again I am getting more friends by being able to smile and sit close to people in class (instead of sitting in the back corner with a baseball cap covering my red spotted forehead) I will keep you posted on the progress. It has been a long struggle. It helped to finally get a doctor who listened, perscribed an RX ...and had me go to a counselor for a couple months. It is embarrassing to talk about it in person to people but life is short. You have to do what it takes to stop this BEAST...turn your life around and take advantage of all the blessings we are given. good luck !!!! egiggy

Yeah it sounds like we're on similar regimens... Im also taking doxycyclene and I was using clindamycin in the morning but I found that it was accentuating the whiteheads/pimples etc by bringing them to a head. I now use a 9% benzoyl peroxide cleanser 2-3 times a day and a topical antibiotic at night (mupirocin/mupirocin calcium), and tarazotene I think to prevent/dry/open pores to prevent pimples. My dermatologist also gave me a sample of something called nicotinamide dont know if it will help yet. Thats my little story Hope everything is working well for you, unfortunately I had a relapse the last few nights. I think the worst is tonight, thats why I came to visit again.

*Sigh* I wish that stuff had worked on me. The doctors had been trying tons of different oral and topical combinations on me. They didn't work at all for me. And some, after a month or so actually made everything worse.

I have been on doxycycline for 6 months and my face is completely pick and scar free now. The only problem is that my doctor keeps suggesting i should come off it for a few weeks to see how things go....but i am petrified that i will pick things to bits once more.
