Hi everyone! I just found this forum and I'm so excited to have a place to go. I have picked my lips with my nails or teeth for as long as I can remember. I also chew on the inside of my cheeks and lips with my teeth. I have noticed in the last couple weeks that the skin on my bottom lip has turned white. The inside of my mouth is always white, but you can't see that so I dont care as much. I heard from my dentist that if I keep chewing on my cheeks that it could cause cancer. Anyone else heard this before? I am really concerned about my bottom lip though. I am worried that I did some permanant damage and it will never go back to normal. My husband says that it just turned white a couple weeks ago. The only thing that I can think of that I am doing differently is that I'm more hydrated now. I am pregnant and on bed-rest so I'm not using all my water like I was before. Would this cause the lip to turn white?
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm really scared that I will never have pink lips again.
Thanks. Anna Mae
